Week 2 - Folie: Abstraction, Metaphor and Scale + Walkshop

During the second week, the group came together to further discuss the possible concepts brainstormed last week:

Second Week's Ideas (Initial Concepts):

Folie Concept: 1) LOVE:  Bringing Brisbane's couples to the site to spend time together, along the beautiful Brisbane river. 2) HUMAN PERCEPTION: Folie manipulates users resultantly giving them the chance to experience the site from different perceptions (5 senses). 3) EXERCISE CENTRE: An inner city exercise centre, aimed at surrounding business people

Folie Context: 1) Riverfronts have long been identified as romantic settings for lovers --> not strong enough concept?? 2) Currently untouched site, manipulation may create a new identity. 3) Many surrounding buildings (inner city) are filled with "health concious" office people, oppurtunity to work out during lunch break

Folie Function: 1) Learning a new experience with partner --> activity incorporated into session within folie. 2) Learning to understand and experience Howard Smith Wharves through different perspective. 3) Learning to use body (energy) to relax, and clear the mind

Folie Tectonic: 1) Transperent yet intimate spaces/materials allowing privacy but still aware of others/surroundings --> series of pods traveling around pole. 2) Many compartments, levels and areas used to manipulate the human mind and body. 3) Curvecous and liner forms combined to form fitness areas

However, we felt that majority of these concepts were still lacking relation to the specific site which was a key criteria. After discussion and many quick sketches, it was decided to definitely travel along the war memorial path.
